The Day the Sun Stood Still...-"And it came to pass"...
Here is an interesting bit of information I'm sure many of you, particularly you who believe in God, will find interesting. Keep in mind the dates in history this article involves.

This concerns a missing day in time discovered and related by Harold Hill, President of Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore Maryland, and a consultant in sthe space program.
Mr. H. Hill stated that he thought one of the most amazing things God has for us today happened to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland. They were trying to determine the position of the sun, moon, and planets 100 and 1000 years from now.In order to do this they had to plot the orbits through past centuries. They ran the computer measurements back and forth over the centuries and suddenly it came to a halt. The computer signaled that there was
something wrong either in the information fed into it or with the results compared with the standards.
They called in the computer service department to check it out and found nothing technically wrong. The computer still came up with the same discrepancy.... a day was missing in space and elapsed time. The scientists were dumbfounded. There was no answer.One of the team remembered a reference to the sun standing still in the Bible. Upon checking, they found in the book of Joshua a pretty "ridiculous" statement for anybody who has "common sense." According
to Scripture, Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy and if darkness fell, they would overpower him; so Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still: "So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day." (Joshua 10:13) There was the missing day!!!They checked the computer going back to the time it was written and found it was close, but not
close enough. The elapsed time that was missing in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes.... not a whole day. They again read the passage and there it said, "about (approximately) a whole day." This did not account for the other missing 40 minutes. The 40 minutes had to be found because in projecting space orbits, the error would
be multiplied over and over.Again, the man remembered somewhere in the Bible that it said the sun went backwards. In II Kings, chapter 20, Hezekiah, on his death bed was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah did not believe him and asked for a sign as proof.
Isaiah said, "...shall the shadow go forward ten degrees or go back ten degrees?" Hezekiah replied, "It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees; nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees." (II Kings 20:9-10) Ten degrees is exactly 20 minutes.
So, to bring the shadow back ten degrees then return the shadow back to it's original position through it's natural motion is 40 minutes!!Twenty-three hours and twenty minutes for Joshua, plus forty minutes in II Kings makes the missing twenty four hours the scientists had to log in their log book as being the missing day in the universe!!
Spooky, ain't it? But beautiful! Ain't God wonderful!!

I teach a Community Bible Study class, and am in the midst of preparing a lecture on Joshua 10. I remembered the facts concerning some matheticians/scientists and their discovery of the "missing day," and was so blessed to find this article..it is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

Thank you always seems so insignificant but sometimes words can't describe. I also had a womens bible group this morning and one elderly lady mentioned that scientists have proven that when the 'soon stood still' according to the bible it was really the earth 'tilting'. I was very troubled by this statement and have been collecting scripture to confirm that God's Word which includes bible-scripture is the only truth. This is such a wonderful confirmation. We serve such a personal God!
If you have read more than biblical text then you might have read about Nibiru, or planet X, supposedly its orbit will come into contact with ours, an assumably all the planets will come into alingment an the inner core of the Earth will still turn but the outside crust will stand still, for about a day. Depending on which site you get your info some say that Nibiru comes into our orbit every 3,600 years some say 20,000 some odd years, I would like to know what date did the Earth stand still during Joshsua, an can your computer, programmed with the right info, say when this will happen again? And what type of situation would cause the earth to seem to stand still for about a whole day? could it be the gravity of another planet or dark star whose orbit intercedes with ours?
Sorry folks, the NASA stuff was shown to be an urban myth years ago. As Christians should we not be the people most ardent in making sure the stuff we tell others is actually true?
Come on Alan, you must either be an atheist, an agnostic or have an anti-Christ spirit...there's always a skeptic when it comes to the Bible or miracles of God. Persecution always comes.Forgive him Lord foe he knows not what he does!
